Where could it take you?
Our maths graduates go on to all sorts of fascinating careers in technology-led industries. You could crunch numbers for business start-ups as a data scientist or work on modelling to predict the weather. You might be an actuary, applying probability and statistics to insurance and banking. Perhaps you’ll design digital games or pursue rocket science.
Students commencing in July may have a slightly limited selection of courses.
Degree Structure:
Students take courses to the value of at least 72 units comprising a core mathematical sciences requirement together with a number of electives. Students must complete at least 18 units of level III courses chosen from Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics or Statistics together with Communication Skills.
A major is a great way to specialise and pursue topics of interest, without narrowing future career options. Majors are available in: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics and Statistics.
Students who perform well can undertake an additional year of study to obtain an Honours Degree of the Bachelor of Mathematical Sciences. An honours qualification is highly valued by employers and is suitable preparation for students who wish to proceed to postgraduate studies. The honours year includes a major project.
Areas of Specialisation
