Where are you from, and what did you study and at which institution?

I’m from Sri Lanka, and I graduated with a Master of Science (Biotechnology) from Flinders University.

Why did you choose to study in Adelaide?

I originally completed my Bachelor’s of Biology in Sri Lanka. When I was deciding on a place to study, my educational agents advised me about my course at Flinders and encouraged me to come to Adelaide.

In Sri Lanka, when it comes to research in my background, there weren't many opportunities, so I felt a desire to study abroad.

After arriving in Adelaide, I realised the range of opportunities available. The things that I'm doing every day, I never thought or expected would be a part of my life before coming here.

What was your journey like studying at Flinders University?

From the very first day I started at Flinders, my journey was built on the support of people who helped me get to where I am right now.

The academic staff helped me understand who I am, my subject, and to become the best version of myself.

In 2021, when I won the StudyAdelaide award, it had a huge impact on me and my confidence.

When I was applying for jobs, I was told they needed someone with relevant experience, which I didn't have at the time. I was given the opportunity because I had won the StudyAdelaide award, which has helped me get to where I am now.
