Where are you from, and what are you studying and at which institution?
I'm from Vietnam, and I am currently studying a Bachelor of Digital Business at Adelaide University.
Back in Vietnam, I was interested in how digital technology is shaping the way businesses operate globally. I wanted to be part of that transformation, so I decided to pursue a degree in Digital Business. The university’s strong focus on practical skills and industry connections really appealed to me.
My degree is all about understanding how technology is changing the way organisations operate and make decisions. It covers everything from cloud computing and cybersecurity to data analytics and business strategy.
What I love most is how practical and future-focused it is; every class or project feels connected to real challenges in the business world.
As part of my work-integrated learning program, I'll be starting an internship, where I can apply everything I’ve learned in my Digital Business course to real-world projects.
The university has been very supportive in preparing me for this experience. There are workshops, networking events, and lots of guidance around building professional skills and getting ready for the workplace.
It’s a chance for me to make a real impact while building confidence, and I think this hands-on experience will be one of the highlights of my time as a student in Adelaide.
How did you feel supported as an international student when you arrived in Adelaide?
I was a bit nervous when I first arrived in Adelaide. It was the first time I stepped out of my comfort zone, but the support I received made a huge difference.
The university has a dedicated orientation program for international students, which helped me settle in and understand how everything works, both on campus and in the city.
There were staff and student mentors who were always ready to answer questions, and I was able to join student societies, which made me feel more connected and less homesick.
The multicultural atmosphere here means people understand the challenges you face as an international student. I found it easy to make friends and quickly felt like I belonged.
Even things like academic workshops, career guidance sessions, and social events really helped me adjust and feel confident.
Adelaide itself is very friendly, and the pace of life is a lot more balanced compared to other cities, which helped me feel less stressed as a student. All these little things combined make my transition smooth and rewarding.
The support from university staff and mentors, plus opportunities to network with alumni and company partners, have helped me shape my career focus and keep my learning relevant.
I have really felt the support from Adelaide University in a lot of ways during my studies. Whenever I struggled with coursework or had questions, I could easily reach out to lecturers or tutors, who were always understanding and willing to help.
The university also provides practical tools like study spaces, online learning platforms, and access to career services. It makes a real difference knowing that there’s support for both academic concerns and personal well-being. Wellness initiatives, counselling services, and student clubs have helped me balance my study workload and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
What’s been your favourite experience while living and studying in Adelaide?
My favourite experience so far has been the sense of community, which I have found both at university and in the city itself.
One highlight was helping organise cultural events with the Vietnamese Student Society and seeing so many students from different backgrounds come together to celebrate and share their traditions. Moments like these made me feel really connected and proud of my roots while building friendships that I know will last.
Outside of university, I’ve loved exploring Adelaide’s beautiful beaches and enjoying the laid-back lifestyle here. Taking a quick trip from the city to the coast to relax, or joining friends at a festival or market, has given me a great balance between studying and living life to the fullest.
It’s the everyday experiences, learning new things, meeting people from all over the world, and having the freedom to try something different, that have made my time in Adelaide truly special.
